that was hosted by the newly formed Arizona
Hockey Union at Polar Ice Peoria and Polar
Ice Chandler April 17-20.

MAHOOD APPOINTED DIRECTOR OF POLAR ICE
HOCKEY OPERATIONS
Chandler, AZ -- Polar
Ice is pleased to announce the appointment
of Harry “Hoody” Mahood as the Director of
Polar Ice Hockey Operations for all three of
the double sheet Polar Ice locations in
Arizona – Chandler, Peoria and
(opening-in-the-fall) Gilbert. “Coach”
Mahood has had a great deal of success with
the Junior A Polar Bears and leads that team
into the Western States Hockey League (WSHL)
Championships, for the 7th
straight year, this weekend at Polar Ice
Chandler.
“We have been very
fortunate to have had Harry as the Polar
Bears’ Head Coach at the Chandler facility
for the past ten years” said Brad Berman of
the Spiral Entertainment Group. “With
the imminent opening of the two sheet Polar
Ice facility in Gilbert, the timing is
perfect to take advantage of what Harry
brings to the table and utilize his vast
talents to develop coaches and players in
Peoria and Gilbert as well as Chandler.”
“To say I am excited
would be an understatement,” said the newly
appointed Mahood. “It is a big
responsibility and one that I take very
seriously. With Polar Ice Gilbert on
the horizon, it’s a special time in Polar
Ice’s history and I am extremely honored to
be part of the next growth phase.”
The appointment of
Mahood is one of many to come that broadens
and strengthens Polar Ice’s position as an
industry leader.
The Polar Bears take on
the El Paso Rhinos in game two tonight in
the best two-of three WSHL championship
series this weekend at Polar Ice Chandler,
7225 West Harrison Street (just off Ray at
54th, east of the I-10).
Puck drop for tonight’s game is 6:45 pm --
and at the same time if a third game is
necessary on Sunday. El Paso won last
night’s exciting series opener by a score of
6-4.

 Kids
First Hockey, a free on-ice youth hockey program hosted in
cooperation with the Phoenix Coyotes and sponsored by
Bauer/Nike, is back at Polar Ice.
Kids ages 4-8 will have an opportunity to participate for free
in "Kids First Hockey". The program consists of four one-hour
sessions designed to provide beginning players instruction in
the sport of hockey. In addition, each participant will receive
a "Kids First Hockey" jersey.
The Phoenix Coyotes have contributed resources to aid this
program such as an online registration tool at the team’s
official Web site,
PhoenixCoyotes.com. Registration forms will be
available all throughout the regular season. Registration is
limited.
Kids First Hockey is designed for new skaters not already in a
hockey program. Children already participating in a league or
program are not eligible for Kids First Hockey.
