TOP SHELF SUMMER LEAGUE
MITE-SQUIRT-PEEWEE-BANTAM
Polar ice youth hockey leagues (PYHL) are designed to provide your player with the best possible recreational hockey experience while teaching important skills such as teamwork, fair play and building confidence. All Polar leagues are NON CHECKING. Polar Ice Peoria is one (West Vally Polar Ice Hockey League) and Chandler and Gilbert youth hockey play as one league (The East Valley Polar Ice Hockey League).
Summer league emphasis is on skill development, learning a variety of positions and of course, having fun. Our game format will encourage players to have equal ice time in a fun atmosphere.
Game Format
Games will be played in two 24 minute running time halves, with a 3 minute warm up and a 2 minute break at the half. Teams will play 5 on 5.
League Format
There will be two evaluations for every division and every player will make a team. A parent meeting and player meet up will occur the week after teams are formed. The regular season will start shortly after. The League will run through the end of July.
There will be 15 games and 10 practices. Parents and players should be prepared to play more than 2 times in a given week. All ice times are 1 hour. Single elimination playoffs will be held in July.
There will be no youth league Memorial Day Weekend, Mothers Day, Fathers Day or the 4th of July.
Roster Rules
Players must join the age appropriate league according to USA Hockey guidelines or with approval from hockey director.
There is limited space available. Availability is based on a first come, first serve basis. Players are not guaranteed a spot once league capacity is met.
Teams will be chosen to reflect a fair playing environment; the hockey director reserves the right to adjust rosters for league parity if needed.
We cannot guarantee car pool requests or coaching requests will be granted, however siblings in the same division will be placed on the same team.
There is a maximum of 17 spots available on every team (including goalies)
